Born in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia - Oscar moved to the USA to continue his study in Mechanical Engineering at University of Pittsburgh after completing his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology.
He then moved to Washington DC area to pursue a career in IT consulting, where he has been working lately as Solutions Architect, modernizing his clients' applications or migrating them to cloud. Since moving to DC area, Oscar has been involved in the Indonesian community. He served in IMAAM as Board Member and President from 2004-2013, during which he helped IMAAM accomplished its long-time goal of obtaining a place of worship, the current IMAAM Center. After that he served in IAA (Indonesian American Association) in different capacities (Board Member, President, Chairman), and lead IAA during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also started the IAA Business Resources Group, where he helped many local small businesses obtain ServSafe Food Manager certifications so they can sell food publicly.
Outside his busy work and activism, he still finds time to play badminton, cycling with local group, ride a motorcycle, hikes with friends, and teaches KeepFit to his students.
Dwitra has extensive experience teaching Indonesian as a Second Language to diverse learners, including American businessmen and US government officials. Her teaching career includes roles at the Foreign Service Institute, Inlingua School, and Diplomatic Language Service, where she was responsible for curriculum development and student progress evaluation.
In addition to her teaching, Dwitra has worked as an independent translator and interpreter for NGOs in the Washington DC area, focusing on trafficking and immigrant issues. She has also contributed to Indonesian magazines as a journalist and is a recipient of a National Indonesia Literature Award. Dwitra's professional journey highlights her deep connection to both Indonesia and the US, having relocated from Indonesia to the US in 1994. She has also held significant roles within non-profits, serving as President of Indonesia Relief USA and Director of Community Development at IMAAM Inc. Her interests also include photography and freelance writing, with a focus on community events and contributions to Indonesian publications. Furthermore, she has fostered educational excellence and leadership within Indonesian communities in the US through her work as a Sunday school teacher and principal.
Beyond her language work, Dwitra is the owner of Brama International, a company specializing in international event organization and facilitating exhibitions and educational trips for Indonesian designers, business people, educators etc. And recently she also creating House of Indonesia and House of Modesty boutiques, that soon will be a seed for a Trading House for promoting products from Indonesia
